About

From the Field to the Table is a new exciting project that the Department of Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies is embarking on with the acclaimed Urban Bush Women community engagement Leadership Institute. Through a five-week long residency, led by Paloma McGregor (UBW company member and LI facilitator ), Amara Tabor-Smith (TDPS Dance Faculty Member, and former UBW company member/Associate Director), and Lisa Wymore (TDPS Dance Faculty Member), utilizing the Urban Bush Women process of community engagement and art making, participants will work on issues of food justice, access, and policy making.

The project will include workshops on "entering, building, and exiting" community, and examining the relationship of poverty, power, and access to healthy sustainable food. The residency will culminate in numerous events:

  • Three public performances in the Playhouse Theater, presented by the Department of Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies – October 12th at 8pm, October 13th at 8pm, and October 14th at 2pm
  • The residency will also include numerous public workshops, (dates and times to be announced)
  • And a three day campus visit with Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, Founding Artistic Director of Urban Bush Women!
